40' Valiant Cutter

$179,900 | 1992 | Alameda, CA

This Valiant 40 is an exceptional vessel that has successfully sailed to 63 different countries around the world.  Valiant is so well known in sailing culture as THE boat that will get you there and safely back home.  Breakdowns and costly, time consuming repairs in foreign countries are for the other guys- the ones who quickly wish they were in a Valiant.  They are so well built.  For instance, every hull that comes out of its Texas based factory, is 100% hand laid with isophthalic resin, hand batched one to five gallons at a time, then dyed to assure proper wet- out technique. But, she is not only a well built, sturdy, reliable sailboat, she is really, really fast often without even wanting to be!  She just can’t help it.  They glide through the water instead of digging up and down into the troughs.  eight knots and 180 miles in a day are not uncommon.  This is what performance cruising is all about.  Valiant is also known for short handed and single handed cruising.  The equipment on this vessel for long range cruising is beyond impressive. This includes a wind vane, solar panels, a back-up generator and over $15,000 in spare parts.  The engine has been replaced with a new, out of the box Westerbeke FWC for a faster, more fuel efficient boat.  With only 450 hrs she has more than enough life left in her. If you are considering cruising in a comfortable, world class vessel look no further.
